While you are getting on with your normally scheduled activities tiny baby is hard at work. This week baby’s brain cells generate at 100 cells per minute! Baby’s tongue and mouth form. The umbilical cord and baby’s kidneys get ready to start up their waste management functions. Baby’s arm and leg buds further form into different segments - hand, arm, shoulder, leg, knee and foot sections respectively.
Baby is now between 0.25-0.3in. The size of a small blueberry and just as sweet!
How are you feeling mama? At this point lots of mamas experience swollen breasts. The female body is amazing and yours is getting ready for breastfeeding. Your nipples may darken and/or stick out more than usual. And they may even be tender to the touch due to increased progesterone and estrogen.
You may even be experiencing a new bizarre symptom: excessive saliva. Just like all of the other fun symptoms: nausea, food aversions, bloating, gas, fatigue and anxiety, excessive saliva should subside as you enter the second trimester.
Sometimes pregnancy can feel like a drag but just remind yourself of your adorable little mini me you’ll meet in 33 short weeks!!
